Questions
Common questions
Short answers to what clients ask most. Rules change, so Hassan confirms the position for your business against current official guidance.
What is the difference between a budget and a forecast?
A budget is the plan you commit to at the start of the year. A forecast is your best current estimate of where the year will land. You need both: the budget sets the target, the forecast tells you early if you will miss it.
How often should we reforecast?
Monthly for fast-moving or cash-tight businesses, quarterly for steadier ones. A rolling forecast always looks 12 months ahead, not just to year-end.
What should a board pack contain?
A one-page summary, profit and loss against budget and forecast, cash and balance sheet, a handful of KPIs and short commentary on the biggest variances and what is being done about them.
Do we need special software?
Usually not. Most businesses Hassan works with run their planning in Excel or their existing ERP. New tools are recommended only when the current ones clearly hold the team back.
